Why We’re Starting a Blog – Hint it’s for YOU!

Majestic Meadows Alpacas is excited to announce that we are finally starting a blog!  The goal of the blog is to keep you informed of the latest happenings around the farm!  We are excited to start sharing things like news of baby animal births, fun new events, upcoming sales, customer experiences and fun farm happenings.  Anything we think you might find interesting, we will be sharing so don’t be surprised if you see YOUR photo on our blog too!

Now, on to the fun stuff!  So many of you have asked about our animals.  We’ve heard you!  We will be sharing when babies are born and when we add new animals to the farm.  To kick off our very first blog post, we’re excited to share with you two new additions to our farm this year.  Our first species to join us is, Gus, our Dromedary Camel.

Gus is approximately 7-8 years old and has become known as our “gentle giant” around here.  He is the largest member of the camelid family and belongs to the same family as our alpacas and llamas.  Gus came to us from a farm in Missouri after unforeseen circumstances prevented the owner from bringing him home to California.

Jeff Farley’s (one of our owner’s) love for camels was the driving force behind adding a camel to the farm family.  Jeff has experience and time with handling and helping with a camel named Clyde who was owned by close friends from many years ago.  We look forward to many happy and healthy years with Gus as he has now found his forever home with us and we couldn’t be happier.

Our second, is Sheldon, a Sulcata Tortoise.  Sheldon joined us… most recently (May of 2021) and we have found ourselves fascinated with him ever since.  He loves munching on veggies, exploring “his” new farm, and having spa days where he is showered with lots of attention from all of us here at Majestic Meadows.  Sulcata Tortoises are the third largest tortoise in the world and can reach a length of 25-30 inches and a weight of about 90 to 200 pounds.  We are learning more about him each day and we’re learning how to take care of him, so that he lives a long and happy life here on the farm.  He is extremely sweet and social and loves roaming about the farm during the day and is fast becoming one who brings lots of smiles and laughter.

Stay tuned to our blog for the latest and greatest happenings here at Majestic Meadows Alpacas & Boutique.  You can also subscribe to our email newsletter to get a monthly roundup on the farm on our homepage.
