Flemish Giant Rabbits
They originated in Flanders, now the northern portion of Belgium, and have been around since at least the 16th century. They make excellent pets because they’re docile and gentle, even with children. They’re also bred and raised for show. The Flemish giant rabbit is the largest type of rabbit in the world. They’re usually anywhere from 2.5 to 4 feet long and weigh 15 to 22 pounds, but the heaviest recorded Flemish giant rabbit weighed 50 pounds! At our farm we have two Flemish Rabbits, Fiona and Gisele, who are very gentle and friendly. They love it when visitors stop by to say hello and are often seen just taking a nap inside their barn area or munching on grass in their outdoor area.
