Valais Blacknose Sheep

The Valais Blacknose sheep originate in the Valais region of Switzerland. They are unique to the Upper Valais and are well adapted to the harsh mountain conditions. The male sheep can weigh from 175-275 lb and about 2.5 feet long. The black on its nose, eyes, ears, knees, hocks and feet and otherwise light wooly coats make them quite unmistakable from other sheep. They have large helical or spiral shaped horns. At our farm we have three Valais Blacknose sheep; Goliath, Bruno, and Felix. While much bigger than the other sheep, they have a very gentle loving soul. So don’t be intimidated by these furry friends, they can’t wait for people to come visit them and feed them.
